Custom Lowriders Take The Cycling World By Storm

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

The lowrider bicycle is all about making a fashion statement. A statement of personality.

The lowrider bike is also known as a “Chopper” or “Muscle Bike.” It’s just about the most distinctive bike out there – no so much because of the design, although that’s eye-catching enough, but also because of what the owners do to their bikes once they get them.

What does a lowrider look like? Picture a Harley Davidson motorcycle, then take away the motor. The handgrips of the lowrider are the highest part of the bike, and the seat of the bike is down at wheel level. Sometimes the pedals are higher than the seats!

Lowriding first became popular among the Chicano American community, but now their popularity has spilled over into most urban areas. Dozens of lowriding clubs have been formed. Lowriders also refer to cars (which also started out in the Chicano American community) and there are lots of contents between car enthusiasts to see who has created the best ride. Competitions for lowrider bikers will surely not be far behind. (more…)

Linear Stepper Motors Technology

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

A linear induction motor is made up of an inductor which is made of individual cores with a concentrated polyphase. Linear motors can be directly substituted for ball screw drives, hydraulic drives, pneumatic drives, or cam drives.

A linear induction motor is basically what is referred to by experts as a “rotating squirrel cage” induction motor. The difference is that the motor is opened out flat. Instead of producing rotary torque from a cylindrical machine it produces linear force from a flat machine. The shape and the way it produces motion is changed, however it is still the same as its cylindrical counterpart. There are no moving parts, however and most experts don’t like that. It does have a silent operation and reduced maintenance as well as a compact size, which appeals many engineers. There is also a universal agreement that it has an ease of control and installation. These are all important considerations when thinking about what type of device you want to create. The linear induction motor thrusts ratio varies depending mainly on the size and rating. Speeds of the linear induction motor vary from zero to many meters per second. Speed can be controlled. Stopping, starting and reversing are all easy. Linear induction motors are improving constantly and with improved control, lower life cycle cost, reduced maintenance and higher performance they are becoming the choice of the experts. Linear motors are simple to control and easy to use. They have a fast response and high acceleration. Their speed is not dependant on contact friction so it is easier to pick up speed quickly. Outboard Motors are Types of Motors

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Outboard motors are used most commonly for boats and are developed as a self-contained unit with an engine. They are designed to be mounted at the rear of the boat and are most common method for propelling a small watercraft. As well as providing propulsion, outboard motors will provide a method of steering control.

It is interesting how an outboard motor is used. It is made to pivot over their mountings and used to control the way of the propeller. When boats are used through shallow water the outboard motor can be tilted forward over their mounts to elevate the propeller and the transmission shaft out of the water to make sure that there is no accumulation of seaweed hitting the underwater hazards such as rocks. Advantages of 2 Cycle Synthetic Oil

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

There’s a lot more to motor oils than car and truck engines.  A whole world of equipment, from boats and snowmobiles to lawn mowers and chainsaws, runs on 2 cycle engines.  These engines are fundamentally different from regular automobile engines, and 2 cycle engine oil performs very differently from regular motor oil.

The 2 cycle engine is called that because, unlike regular 4 cycle engines, it completes the four stages of operation (fuel intake, compression, combustion and exhaust) in only two strokes of the piston.  A 2 cycle engine will be smaller, lighter and simpler than a 4 cycle engine, and it will usually run much faster – as many as three or four times as many RPMs at the same displacement.

A 2 cycle engine oil also works very differently.  A 2 cycle oil is actually mixed directly with the fuel.  Some engines do the mixing themselves, injecting oil directly into the combustion chamber, while in others the fuel and oil are pre-mixed manually.  Conventional pre-mix 2 cycle oil is usually mixed at a fuel to oil ratio of 32:1 or 50:1. Selecting The Right Electric Car Motors

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Electric motors come in two basic flavors. Without going into great detail, there are alternating current (AC) motors and direct current (DC) motors. Both types are used in electric cars. Electric cars made by large vehicle manufacturers usually come with AC motors. These usually produce more power for their size and they are generally lighter than DC motors. On the other hand, they are also a lot more expensive and much more complicated for the DIY enthusiast to install. This is the reason most of us prefer the DC motor when tackling a conversion project.

Locating the right DC motor for an electric car conversion project is pretty easy if you know what to look for. First, DC electric car motors are almost always categorized by their diameter. It probably goes without saying, but larger diameter motors are capable of generating more horsepower, however, larger motors also use more energy and require more batteries or more frequent charging. It is generally accepted that an electric car conversion is most successful using a 9 to 13 inch motor. (more…)

Synthetic 2 Cycle Oil Advantage

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

The similarities amid the 2 aeon engine’s name and operation are cocky evident. Unlike the added frequently accepted auto engine, the 2 aeon agent has alone 2 acclamation in it’s action instead of 4. This agency that the intake, compression, combustion, and bankrupt processes appear in 2 acclamation of the engine’s agent rather than 4. They additionally tend to be abate and beneath circuitous engines and are acclimated beyond abounding altered applications. These alter from advantageous accoutrement like lawnmovers and chainsaws to what abounding may alarm “adult toys” such as outboard baiter motors and snowmobiles. One can brainstorm again the advanced array of altitude these articles charge abide back actuality acclimated by consumers. Because of these differences in conditions, synthetic 2 aeon oil is added generally the best important agency in the constancy and achievement of these engines. (more…)

Electric Car Motor Kit

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

The general public today are considering doing an electric vehicle motor conversion because of the definitely continuous oil price hikes that we are faced with. Apart from the rising fuel prices, carbon-based fuels are starting to become depleted and the environment is also slowly disintegrating due to big carbon emissions from cars which make a contribution to global temperature rises.

electric automobiles are dissimilar from gasoline-powered autos apropos their sources of power. Gasoline-powered automobiles, from the name itself, are powered by petrol. These standard automobiles have a petrol engine which is replaced by an electrical motor in electric vehicles. The electric motor is perhaps the single most critical part of the electric car. There are essentially two main types of motors for the electric vehicle conversion – the AC and the DC conversion systems. (more…)

The Real Cost Of Motor Vehicle Theft

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Ever had a car stolen? Did you collapse, broken-hearted, on the floor when told that its burnt-out chassis had been found at the bottom of a dry creek bed and was now home to a family of very large rats? The stereo was gone, the seats were gone, the woofers, gone. And the fluffy dice – they even took the dice!

The negative impact caused by car theft spares no one. Its effects are felt right across the community. For example, an increase in motor vehicle thefts means an increase in motor vehicle insurance claims and this ultimately leads to a rise in motor vehicle insurance premiums.

But it doesn’t stop there. Even those who don’t own a vehicle end up bearing the cost of motor vehicle thefts indirectly as taxi fares, bus fares, even school excursions become more expensive. And if you believe you’ve been excluded from these increased costs because you walk or cycle everywhere, think again. (more…)
